HC Deb 25 March 1986 vol 94 c399W
Mr. Cash

asked the Paymaster General whether he proposes to hold a Local Enterprise Week during 1986.

Mr. Trippier

The Local Enterprise Weeks held in 1984 and 1985 proved highly successful in spreading the "Enterprise" message. As 1986 has been designated Industry Year, during which many events will be taking place to drive home the Industry Year theme, the opportunity presents itself to put over our own "Enterprise" message in a different but equally effective way. As a result of our encouragement, Ambassador Rail Exhibitions Ltd. is running an Enterprise Express to mark Industry Year. The train will constitute a mobile exhibition on the theme of "Enterprise" and will bring together my Department's small firms service together with exhibitors from the Department of Trade and Industry, the Manpower Services Commission, Business in the Community, British Steel Industries Ltd., NCB (Enterprise) Ltd., the Natural Environmental Research Council and BBC Radio 4. I am to launch the train at Euston station on Monday 14 April, following which the train will tour the country for two weeks to carry the message of "Enterprise" to as many people as possible. A number of ministerial colleagues hope to visit the train at some of its stops.
