HC Deb 25 March 1986 vol 94 c451W
47. Mr. Moynihan

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he has received representations seeking to secure future provision for clinical tropical medicine and diagnostic parasitology at the Hospital for Tropical Diseases; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Whitney

Several representations have been received. Bloomsbury health authority is responsible for the management of the Hospital for Tropical Diseases. The authority has no plans to close the hospital but is considering possible relocation of the hospital within the district. The authority is at present undertaking a review of the range, scope and location of the services it must provide to best meet the future needs of patients and medical teaching and research and development. Any formal strategic proposals suggesting major changes to the Hospital for Tropical Diseases arising from this exercise would he subject to full public consultation under standard National Health Service procedures.

My hon. Friend may care to contact the health authority chairman direct for any further information.
