HL Deb 24 March 1986 vol 472 c1273WA
Lord O'Hagan

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What areas of EC activity they consider ripe for deregulation.

Lord Young of Graffham

The Government are currently reviewing the areas where existing or proposed Community regulations are considered to impose excessive or unnecessary burdens on business. The cost benefit assessment procedures agreed by the European Council in December, which will apply to all new proposals by the Commission, will help to identify further areas where the effects on business are likely to be particularly significant.
