asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what was the number of police stations in west Yorkshire in each of the years 1975, 1983 and 1985; and if he will make a statement.

I understand from the chief constable that there were 93 police stations in west Yorkshire in 1975, 73 in 1983 and 71 in December 1985.

I understand from the chief constable concerned that there were 481 police stations in Wales in 1976, 430 in 1983 and 409 in December 1985.
