HC Deb 20 March 1986 vol 94 c290W
Mr. Wainwright

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services why the chairman of Huddersfield district health authority was informed by ministerial letter that he was not being re-appointed and later informed that he has been re-appointed.

Mr. Hayhoe

I regret my mistake in sending the Huddersfield chairman a valedictory letter on 18 February. It was withdrawn the following day and I have apologised. I am glad that he has accepted my apology and my invitation to serve for a further term of four years. There is no truth in the suggestion that I understand has been made locally that the hon. Member's intervention influenced this matter in any way.
