HL Deb 20 March 1986 vol 472 c1146WA
Lord O'Hagan

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether proposals for deregulation in the EC would involve the participation of the European Parliament and the parliaments of the member states of the EC.

The Minister of State, Foreign and Commonwealth Office (Baroness Young)

The European Council agreed in December that the Commission would in future make an assessment of the implications for business and for job creation of each new proposal. National parliaments and the European Parliament will, under their existing procedures, therefore have an opportunity to consider the regulatory aspects of such proposals.
