asked the Prime Minister if she will make a statement on co-ordination between the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry, the Secretary of State for Scotland and the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food in the Government's consideration of the proposed revised Guinness-Distillers merger.

The decision on the revised proposals for a Guinness-Distillers merger will be taken by my hon. Friend the Minister for Information Technology, who will have regard to the advice of the Director General of Fair Trading, and the views of other interested Government Departments, including the Scottish Office and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.
