§ Mr. Coombsasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will consider implementing recommendations 33 and 47 of the second report on food labelling of the Food Standards Committee (1979).
§ Mrs. FennerRecommendation 33 of the second report on food labelling is implemented in regulation 14 of the Food Labelling Regulations 1984. This does not preclude the use of the heading recommended in the report but it cannot be required because the EC food labelling directive (79/112) requires only the use of the word "ingredients" at the head of the list.
Recommendation 46 of the report, which deals with the use of the word "flavour" is implemented in schedule 7 of the food labelling regulations. At the time the regulations were made it was not considered appropriate to incorporate in them the supplementary wording suggested in recommendation 47.
