HC Deb 18 March 1986 vol 94 c178W
65. Sir Dudley Smith

asked the Paymaster General what new initiatives he proposes to help the skilled and professionally qualified unemployed to obtain work.

Mr. Lang

There is a wide variety of existing help available for skilled and professionally qualified unemployed people from the Manpower Services Commission employment division, including the professional and executive recruitment service, and from the training division. Access to all this help is provided by jobcentres.

In addition, jobcentres are operating a pilot programme of counselling interviews for long-term unemployed people in nine locations throughout the country.
