asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will list all specific type grants paid by his Department to local authorities, showing the size of each grant, which were hypothecated to any individual services or where local authorities had to bid for specific grants.

The information based on 1985–86 estimated provision is as follows. All specific type grants to be paid in the current financial year are hypothecated to individual services. All grants require applications from local authorities.
