HC Deb 18 March 1986 vol 94 c113W
Q23. Sir David Price

asked the Prime Minister if she will sponsor a national campaign of good neighbourliness to help the aged, the frail, the disabled and the lonely and particularly those who live alone; and if she will make a statement.

The Prime Minister

I am always happy to promote good neighbourliness, but experience suggests that it can most effectively be developed by local action. Our policy therefore is to encourage social services departments to draw on and develop all the resources available in the community to assist people who need support, including the support that may be provided by vigilant and caring neighbours.
