Mr. Kirkwood

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services, pursuant to his reply of Wednesday 15 January, Official Report, column 606, whether the statutory auditors have issued reports on inadequate provision for internal audit in any further family practitioner committees.

Further to the family practitioner committees identified in my reply to the hon. Member on 15 January, at columns606–7, statutory auditors have issued reports on the inadequate provision for internal audit at the following committees:

• Barnet FPC
• Hillingdon FPC
• Redbridge and Waltham Forest FPC
• City and East London FPC
• Croydon FPC

An additional sum of £258,000 has been made available to FPCs in 1986–87, on a selective basis, for the development of internal audit arrangements.
