HC Deb 17 March 1986 vol 94 c77W
Mr. Wainwright

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what representations he has received from geologists about the Nature Conservancy Council's geological conservation unit; and whether he will make a statement.

Mrs. Rumbold

A number of representations have been received. I am satisfied that the Nature Conservancy Council fully recognises the importance of geological conservation. It has significantly expanded its activities in this area with increases in both permanent and contract staff. Further increases in permanent staff are planned.
