HC Deb 17 March 1986 vol 94 c24W
44. Mr. Roger King

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what steps his Department takes to promote the use of restraints for children in cars.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

The Department has incorporated the subject of restraints for children in cars in its current rolling programme of road safety advertising. During the last two weeks of March, a series of national newspaper advertisements will draw attention to the hazards of unsecured children in cars and to the advantages of using approved restraints.

Additionally, an illustrated and practical advisory leaflet is being updated and reissued. We are responding to the concern of one BBC television programme "That's Life". We are encouraging local community groups to promote awareness and action.
