§ Mr. Richard Shepherdasked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will name the hospitals and rehabilitation centres for which he is responsible; whether he will give the dates on which they were last inspected for breaches of food hygiene procedures; and whether the person responsible for any such inspection was a qualified environmental health officer.
§ Mr. LeeThere are 19 active hospitals and one rehabilitation centre for the Armed Forces in the United Kingdom and overseas. They are:

The commanding officers are responsible for all aspects of hygiene including food handling procedures; inspections are undertaken regularly and routinely and the appropriate standards of hygiene are maintained as advised by qualified environmental health officers. In addition, they are inspected annually, and on other unannounced occasions by qualified environmental health officers.
