§ Mr. DunnIn 1985 43 per cent. of 3 and 4-year olds (excluding rising fives) attended maintained nursery schools, nursery classes or infant classes in primary schools. Both the percentage rate of participation and the actual numbers were the highest ever. The comparable percentage for 1979 was 37 per cent.
