§ Mr. Frank Fieldasked the Prime Minister if she will take steps to ensure that the respective versions of the new code of conduct for European companies operating in South Africa currently being circulated by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the Department of Trade and Industry correspond exactly in their wording, with particular reference to the revised definition of minimum wage levels recently agreed by EEC Ministers; if she will make it the practice of Her Majesty's Government to use the version issued by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office as the basis of its policy towards South Africa; what steps Her Majesty's Government propose to take to implement the code in the United Kingdom; and if she will make a statement.

§ The Prime MinisterAll Government Departments are implementing the code as agreed by EC Foreign Ministers on 19 November 1985, a copy of which was deposited in the Library of the House. The Government are encouraging British companies with interests in South Africa to comply fully with the provisions of the revised code.
