§ Mr. Carter-Jonesasked the Prime Minister if, in the light of its participation in the international expert meeting on legislation and equalisation of opportunities for disabled persons held in Vienna between 2 and 6 June, Her Majesty's Government will make a contribution to the United Nations trust fund for the decade of disabled persons; and if she will make a statement.
§ The Prime MinisterWe support the general aims of the United Nations world programme of action concerning disabled persons. However, it is not our intention to contribute to the voluntary fund for the United Nations decade of disabled persons. We prefer to support specific projects of benefit to the disabled directly through our bilateral aid programme.
