HC Deb 12 June 1986 vol 99 cc284-5W
43. Mr. Ray Powell

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether the valuation of milk quota for the purpose of compensating tenants on the termination of their tenancies will take into account the length of time which the quota scheme has still to run.

Mr. Gummer

The valuation of milk quota for the purposes of end-of-tenancy compensation will depend upon the circumstances and market force which exist at the time of the termination of the tenancy.

44. Dr. Roger Thomas

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what is his estimate of the number of tenants who will receive compensation in respect of milk quotas in any one year.

Mr. Gummer

There are over 22,000 holdings in England and Wales involved in dairying which are either wholly or partly rented. It is not possible to indicate how many of these would be eligible to claim end of tenancy compensation for milk quota in any one year.
