HC Deb 12 June 1986 vol 99 cc306-7W
Mr. Heddle

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he has any plans to seek to amend the Housing (Homeless Persons) Act 1977 in the light of the House of Lords ruling in the case of Puhlhofer v Hillingdon borough council.

Sir George Young

I have no such plans at present. The key question is what effect, if any, the ruling could have on the way in which local authorities carry out their responsibilities. We shall be monitoring the position through our regular quarterly statistics and through a research study which is just starting on the operation of the legislation by local authorities.
