§ Mr. Cohenasked the Secretary of State for Defence why the British Army exercise which was taking place at West Down Plantation on Salisbury Plain on 10 April was abandoned; why cruise missile convoys from the United States base at Greenham Common were allowed to exercise there instead; what representations he received prior to this decision being made; and what was the cost of this abandoned British Army exercise.
§ Mr. StanleyI understand that on the day in question all units were able to use the exercise area for the period previously allocated. I also refer the hon. Member to the reply given by my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister to the hon. Member for Linlithgow (Mr. Dalyell) on 1 May, at column455.
