HC Deb 12 June 1986 vol 99 c291W
Mr. Cohen

asked the Secretary of State for Defence why the British Army exercise which was taking place at West Down Plantation on Salisbury Plain on 10 April was abandoned; why cruise missile convoys from the United States base at Greenham Common were allowed to exercise there instead; what representations he received prior to this decision being made; and what was the cost of this abandoned British Army exercise.

Mr. Stanley

I understand that on the day in question all units were able to use the exercise area for the period previously allocated. I also refer the hon. Member to the reply given by my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister to the hon. Member for Linlithgow (Mr. Dalyell) on 1 May, at column455.
