§ Sir Raymond Gowerasked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will make a statement concerning the outcome of the negotiations in connection with the teachers' dispute, insofar as education in Wales is concerned.
§ Mr. Wyn RobertsA 5½ per cent. pay rise for 1986–87 for teachers in England and Wales was agreed at the Burnham Primary and Secondary Committee on 9 May. The agreement was reached on the understanding that it would not prejudice the eventual outcome of the talks which are taking place, with the help of ACAS, about a revised pay structure and conditions of service for74W teachers. As an integral part of the 9 May agreement all of the teachers' unions involved in the dispute agreed to end the disruption of work in the schools.
