§ Mr. Michael Brownasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will inform Humberside county council and Glanford borough council of the name of the company to be employed in the test drilling of the possible nuclear waste site at South Killingholme; and if he will announce when test drilling will commence.
§ Mrs. RumboldThe geo-technical consultants appointed by NIREX to supervise the investigations of the South Killingholme site are Howard Humphreys. The sub-contractor who will carry out the test drilling has not yet been appointed. Drilling could not start until 7 July when the special development order permitting geological investigations comes into operation. After that it is a 19W matter for NIREX and the contractors to decide when drilling should begin. I will arrange for a copy of this answer to be sent to the two councils.
