HC Deb 09 June 1986 vol 99 c39W
Mr. Mudd

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if, pursuant to his answer of 22 May, Official Report, column 247, regarding the desk study on the Falmouth container terminal, he will identify the navigational interests and other bodies with whom consultations are taking place and the source of the independent professional advice being sought by his Department.

Mr. Moore

The following bodies with navigational interests have been consulted by my Department:

  • Falmouth Harbour Commissioners
  • Falmouth Docks and Engineering Company
  • Carrick district council (as harbour authority for Penryn and Truro)
  • St. Mawes Pier and Harbour Company
  • Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food
  • HM Coastguard, Falmouth

I understand that Falmouth Container Terminal Ltd. Sent copies of the desk study to the Duchy of Cornwall and the Nature Conservancy Trust, and we have invited their comments on navigation. The Department also informed Cornwall county council that the desk study had been received.

The Department has received independent professional advice from the Hydrographic Department of the Ministry of Defence.
