HC Deb 04 June 1986 vol 98 c599W
Mr. Gwilym Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what steps he is taking to ensure that bilingual syllabuses for the new GCSE courses will be available for secondary schools in Wales.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

The provision of bilingual syllabuses is a matter for the examining board. However, in view of the pressures on the Welsh joint education committee at this time, my right hon. Friend has offered, exceptionally, to provide the WJEC with Welsh translations of 24 syllabuses corresponding to the training manuals which have already been translated into Welsh.
