HC Deb 03 June 1986 vol 98 c408W
Mr. Williams

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry when allegations relating to the status and activities of Unicol of Harrow-on-the-Hill as a debt-collecting agency were first notified to the Office of Fair Trading; what investigations and action have taken place; if the validity of that company's application for a licence under the Consumer Credit Act has been re-checked; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Howard

The licensing of debt-collecting agencies under the Consumer Credit Act is the responsibility of the Director General of Fair Trading, and I will ask him to write to the hon. Member.
