HC Deb 03 June 1986 vol 98 c450W
Mr. Faulds

asked the Secretary of State for Transport, pursuant to the answer of 19 May, Official Report, column 27, concerning underground ticketing machines, what consideration was given by his Department, prior to the granting of approval for the new system as to the effects of the new system on (a) the incidence of machines not providing the correct change and (b) the sums of money wrongly retained from travellers as a result of machines not giving the correct change.

Mr. David Mitchell

A major advantage of the new underground ticketing system is that the passenger-operated ticket-issuing machines will be an integral part of the booking office. They will be far more easily serviced by the booking office staff than the existing isolated machines. This was taken into account in our assessment of LRT's investment proposal.
