HC Deb 03 June 1986 vol 98 c411W
Mr. Maclennan

asked the Secretary of State for Wales which breeds of ewe in which areas of Wales qualify for the higher rate of headage payments under the sheep annual premium arrangements; and if mountain breeds of ewe in well-defined regions of Wales were considered for the extension of sheep annual premium to untupped shearlings.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

There is only one rate of sheep annual premium. All breeds of ewe are currently eligible for the premium, provided that all other conditions of the scheme are met. It is not the practice in Wales to leave shearlings untupped.
