§ Mr. Roger Kingasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if, pursuant to his answer of 19 May, Official Report, column 45, he will raise during exploratory talks with Nissan UK the discrepancy between the 1986 agreed inclusive United Kingdom import and phase 1 Washington assembly quota, and the combined sales targets of all Nissan UK dealers; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Peter MorrisonNissan UK sales targets are a commercial matter for the company itself, but through its membership of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders it is a party to the talks between that organisation and the Japanese Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA) about the size of the UK new car market, as is the Nissan Motor Company by virtue of its membership of JAMA.
