asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will meet a deputation of Liverpool hon. Members to discuss the organisational problems of the direct labour organisation of the Liverpool city council; and if he will make a statement.

My predecessor as Secretary of State for the Environment was to have visited Merseyside on 22 and 23 May 1986. However, the announcement of Cabinet changes on 21 May meant that this visit had to be cancelled.
