These are two of a number of modern wound care products which the Department has been asked to consider for the list of prescribable dressings. The manufacturers have been advised that further evidence is needed from controlled clinical trials on the efficacy and cost-effectiveness of the products. This information should enable the claims made for the new dressings to be assessed.
