HC Deb 03 June 1986 vol 98 c396W
Mr. Maxton

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the number of beds currently not in use in hospitals in Scotland that have been opened since 1979.

Mr. John MacKay

Comprehensive and up-to-date information is not held centrally in the form requested. Hospital facilties may be built under the major or the minor building programme. While the planned size of hospitals and hospital extensions built under the major building programme and opened since 1979 is known centrally, their commissioning and the current use of beds is a matter for individual health boards, as is the management of the minor building programme.
