HL Deb 31 July 1986 vol 479 c1092WA
Baroness Nicol

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What is the contribution being made currently by United Kingdom scientists to the conservation of Antarctic marine living resources.

Baroness Young

Work by British Antarctic Survey, the Natural Environment Research Council specialist institute, on krill distribution and abundance, and on predator/prey relationships, is a major component of the multinational Biological Investigations of Marine Antarctic Systems and Stocks (BIOMASS) programme.

British Antarctic Survey and Imperial College, London, scientists make an important contribution to the work of the Scientific Committee of the Convention on the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources and its specialist working groups.
