HC Deb 25 July 1986 vol 102 c560W
Dr. Hampson

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what proposals the urban housing renewal unit has received from Leeds city council; and with what result.

Sir George Young

In my answer to my hon. Friend the Member for Sherwood (Mr. Stewart) on 26 March (at col.501–2), I announced approval in principle to a major proposal to renovate and revitalise the Gipton South estate.

Discussions are in progress with Leeds city council on proposals concerning the Belle Isle, South Seacroft arid Halton Moor estates. The urban housing renewal unit has also received a proposal concerning the Granges, Chapeltown but has indicated to the council that it does not fall within the unit's remit. Discussions are also taking place with the Council concerning properties at Newhall road.
