HC Deb 25 July 1986 vol 102 cc523-4W
Mr. Meadowcroft

asked the Secretary of State for Transport whether trains transporting nuclear materials through Leeds are scheduled to be held up for any length of time within Leeds; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. David Mitchell

The timing and routeing of radioactive consignments are a matter for British Rail. I am informed that irradiated nuclar fuel from power stations would not normally travel via Leeds. Low-level radioactive materials may sometimes travel via Leeds as routine freight consignments.
