HC Deb 25 July 1986 vol 102 c675W
Sir Brandon Rhys Williams

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what steps he will take to encourage investors to seek to promote profit-sharing schemes in companies in which they have an interest.

Mr. MacGregor

The Government believe that there are major advantages for employers and employees in relating a part of pay to profits. It is therefore in the interests of investors to support the wider adoption of profit related pay arrangements. I hope that the Green Paper, "Profit-Related Pay: a Consultative Document", which sets out the merits of relating a part of pay to profits and an outline of possible arrangements for tax relief, will be carefully considered by employers, employees and investors.
