asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many centres there are for fitting artificial limbs in the United Kingdom and how many people are employed in them.

There are 27 DHSS centres and sub-centres for fitting artificial limbs in England employing 872 staff. Services in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are the responsibility of my right hon. and learned Friend the Secretary of State for Scotland and my right hon. Friends the Secretaries of State for Wales and Northern Ireland.
