§ Mr. WaldenThe University Grants Committee has decided that in future it will allocate resources such that over the whole period of their courses part-time students are funded at the same level as full-time students on equivalent courses. The committee has also decided that for 1986–87 it will increase its previously announced block grant to the University of London by £600,000 so that the amount allowed in respect of students at Birkbeck college is calculated on the same basis as in recent years.
