Mr. Austin Mitchell

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what is his estimate of the amount of rates payable in the current financial year by, respectively, the agriculture, manufacturing and industry and commerce sectors generally; and how this compares with the contribution to local authority expenditure made by the Government and by other ratepayers.

Following is a breakdown of rates payable to local authorities' rate funds for 1986–87 for Great Britain:
