HC Deb 24 July 1986 vol 102 cc501-2W
Mr. Corbyn

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if all food supplies with a higher level of radiation than 350 becquerels have now been withdrawn; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Jopling

[pursuant to his reply, 22 July 1986, c. 116]: Monitoring carried out by my Department since the Chernobyl accident has shown the position of foodstuffs on sale in this country to be entirely satisfactory. It has not been necessary to withdraw any food supplies. Special measures have been taken in parts of Cumbria and north Wales to ensure that sheep entering the food chain are below internationally acceptable levels.
