HC Deb 24 July 1986 vol 102 c363W
Mr. Best

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what are the implications of the latest United States nuclear weapon test for Her Majesty's Government's attitude towards a further summit between the United States of America and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics; whether Her Majesty's Government have any involvement in this test; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Renton

We share the widespread hope that there will be a summit meeting between President Reagan and Mr. Gorbachev this year, and that it will succeed in reaching decisions on arms control. This view is not affected by the latest United States test which was not related to the United Kingdom nuclear programme.
