HC Deb 21 July 1986 vol 102 c20W
Mr. Janner

asked the Attorney-General what is the average time between the issue and start of hearing in personal injury cases in the High Court during the last year for which figures are available.

The Attorney-General

In 1985 the estimated average waiting time between issue and writ and start of trial—or date of disposal—for personal injury cases set down for trial in the High Court was 115.5 weeks in London and 144.1 weeks in the rest of England and Wales, but these figures include cases which are settled in the early stages and those which are fought to a finish and culminate in a judgment.
