§ Mr. Chris PattenIn accepting a 1986–87 pay offer on 9 May, all six school teacher unions gave an assurance that there would be a return to peace and calm in schools immediately. Pupils should now be receiving a normal, uninterrupted service and I trust that local education authorities, as employers, are ensuring that teachers are carrying out their contractual obligations.
