HC Deb 07 July 1986 vol 101 cc69-70W
Mr. Ashley

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what information he has as to the number of well women clinics in Britain; and what steps he is taking to increase their number.

Mr. Whitney

Information on the number of well women clinics is not held centrally. Their provision is a matter for individual health authorities in the light of local needs and priorities.

Mr. Ashley

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what steps he is taking to ensure that women doctors are always available at well women clinics for those women who prefer them.

Mr. Whitney

The staffing of well women clinics is the responsibility of those health authorities that choose to set up such clinics.
