HC Deb 07 July 1986 vol 101 c17W
Mr. Janner

asked the Attorney-General what was the shortest and what was the longest time between the issuing of a summons in a claim for damages in a county court and the hearing of that claim in the last year for which figures are available.

The Attorney-General

Figures are not available for the shortest and longest times between issue of a summons and start of hearing. However, information collected on a sample basis during 1985 as part of the civil justice review indicated that the average time between issue and start of hearing in personal injury cases in county courts was in the region of 18 months.
