Mr. Caborn

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry (1) what account has been taken by Her Majesty's Government in estimating the net number of jobs at risk from the possible imposition of sanctions against South Africa, of any offsetting job gains resulting from the manufacture in the United Kingdom of goods previously imported and the investment in the United Kingdom of capital previously exported to South Africa; and if he will make a statement;

(2) what method of calculation has been used to arrive at a figure of 120,000 job losses in the United Kingdom if full economic sanctions were applied to South Africa.
