HC Deb 04 July 1986 vol 100 c682W
Mr. Walters

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what was the total value of the subsidy on open market butter purchased by non-profit-making organisations during 1985.

Mr. Gummer

[pursuant to his reply, 2 July 1986, c. 571]: The amount of subsidy paid in 1985 on open market butter purchased by non-profit-making organisations was £5.689 million.

Mr. Walters

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what was the subsidy on each 250 gramme packet of butter on the open market purchased by non-profit-making organisations during 1985.

Mr. Gummer

[pursuant to his reply, 2 July 1986, c. 57]: During 1985 the subsidy on open market butter purchased by non-profit-making organisations was 24p per 250 gramme pack from January to May and 23p per 250 gramme pack from June to December.

Mr. Walters

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what percentage of non-profit-making organisations have claimed the subsidy on butter purchased on the open market; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Gummer

[pursuant to his reply, 2 July 1986, c. 571]: I regret this information is not available. Records are kept only of those non-profit-making organisations claiming subsidy under Commission regulation 2191/81. We have no means of establishing the total number of organisations which might be eligible to apply.
