HL Deb 01 July 1986 vol 477 cc870-1WA
Lord Kennet

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether approval from the Office of Fair Trading or elsewhere is required for the deal whereby Sealink is reported to be buying Hoverspeed.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Trade and Industry (Lord Lucas of Chilworth)

The acquisition of Hoverspeed by Sealink is being considered by the Office of Fair Trading. The Director General of Fair Trading will advise my right honourable friend on whether it should be referred to the Monopolies and Mergers Commission for further investigation.
