§ Mr. Murphyasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will arrange for a Government report on each plenary part session of the Assembly of the Western European Union to be laid before Parliament.
§ Mr. EggarI do not think it would be appropriate for us to report to the House on the meetings of the Assembly of the Western European Union, the British members of which are drawn from this House and from another place. Full records of the proceedings of the Western European Union Assembly are published by the Assembly itself and a copy is placed in the Library of the House.
§ Mr. Murphyasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will arrange for a Government statement on the work of the Western European Union to be presented to Parliament annually.
§ Mr. EggarThe annual reports of the Council of the Western European Union to the Assembly (on the Council activities for the period 1 January to 31 December of each year) are published. Copies are placed in the Library of the House. However, I would be happy to adopt the suggestion of my hon. Friend and would propose to make such a statement after the autumn Ministerial meeting of the Western European Union.
