asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement about the inquiry he has set up into the performance of the Scottish Development Agency.

The review of the Scottish Development Agency which is now under way is part of the national review programme covering all non-departmental public bodies. The SDA's programmes play a key role in our policies for developing the Scottish economy and improving the environment and I have every confidence that the review will help to ensure that we continue to get the best possible value for money from this expenditure.
